Wandering around Toronto and lost a bit of your bark? After a long night out I certainly had and I was [as usual] sniffing out the best espresso or latte I could find. As luck would have it, just a few blocks from where I was staying was Granby Street and a coffee shop that would be my morning home every day thereafter in Toronto: Bull Dog Coffee.
Opened ten years ago by the first barista champion in the Central Region Canada, Bull Dog is situated on a quiet tree-lined corner and boasts what I think is the best espresso-based drink I had in Toronto – and I had quite a few. The outdoor tables allow patrons to relax in the open air and enjoy.
I took note of the two Bull Dog specialties: the “Bull Dog” [a latteccino or cappulatte – a combo of a latte and a cappuccino] and the “Blanco Bull Dog” a white hot chocolate with dark chocolate designs which apparently was voted the best hot chocolate in Toronto by Now Magazine. I can personally vouch for the “Bull Dog” – it was fantastic.
One day I was there two baristas – one from Japan and the other from South Korea – assisted me and we talked about the two countries while I perused the various baked goods trying to decide which one to pick. As I am always in search of another espresso mecca to add to my travel arsenal my ears perked up when I stumbled across Bull Dog. The coffee is tail-wagging good!
