As I left the Bwindi Impenetrable Rainforest and my spectacular encounter with the mountain gorillas, I drove through the town of Ntungamo. Ntungamo is a town of approximately 16,500 inhabitants and is the largest town in Ntungamo District of Uganda. It is located in southwest Uganda not far from the Rwandan border.
Ntungamo is located about 41 miles [66 km] by road from the town of Mbarara, the largest metropolitan area in the region, on the highway between Mbarara and Kabale.
Ntungamo is representative of a typical Ugandan town, and as I drove out of the town, you can see the green countryside representative of southwest Uganda.
